Position Title Nurse Aide Level II Instructor (Part-Time)
General Function

Lenoir Community College is a comprehensive institution which places primary emphasis on excellence in classroom instruction. Continuing Education Instructors are expected to demonstrate and maintain competence in each of the following areas throughout their employment at the college: mastery of subject, teaching performance, and evaluation of student learning.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

I. Mastery of Subject Matter
• Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of their field or discipline
• Display an ability to interpret and evaluate the theories of their field or discipline
• Connect their subject matter with related fields
• Stay current in their subject matter through professional development, through involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conference or workshops
• Use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate

II. Teaching Performance
• Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning
• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students
• Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students needs
• Employ available instructional technology, i.e. the Internet, telecourse, interactive technology, when appropriate
• Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments
• Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials in accordance with course objectives
• Communicate effectively in both the educational and health care settings
• Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and student learning
• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter and modify where appropriate instructional methods and strategies to achieve student learning
• Function effectively as a member of the didactic, laboratory and clinical faculty
• Implement and assess identified program and institutional student learning outcomes
• Perform assessments of students’ cognitive, effective and psycho-motor skills and incorporate core competencies into program content
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit required record management documentation timely
• Assist students with NA II listing requirements after successful completion of NA II Program

III. Evaluation of Student Learning
• Establish and follow meaningful learning objectives
• Develop and explain methods that fairly measure student progress toward course objectives
• Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning
• Evaluate student performance in accordance with NA II Program Guidelines
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grade rosters to division administrator each semester according to established deadlines
• Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution is required; bachelor’s degree is preferred
• Two calendar years of the equivalent of full time clinical experience as a registered nurse (4000 hours), three years of community college teaching and/or clinical experience required, a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina;
Preferred qualifications: three calendar years of the equivalent of full time clinical experience as a registered nurse, five years of community college teaching and/or clinical experience and a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina.

Salary Range $24-$26 per hour
Location Greene County Center
