Position Information

Position Title Instructor (part-time)-Correctional Programs
General Function

The Substitute Instructor will provide vocational, basic, and life skills instruction to incarcerated individuals.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The Substitute Instructor will pair classroom instruction with general knowledge that prepares students for successful transition into the community; and maintain accurate course records, inventory and records, and security of and safety for students. Work schedule will vary based upon the correctional facility and course.

Qualifications

Requires a degree, certification, and/or NC licensure in a vocational and/or life skills subject area from a regionally accredited institution. Candidate must be willing to work in a correctional facility in direct contact with incarcerated individuals and pass a Department of Public Safety Background Check. Candidate must also be able to develop lessons/course syllabus, maintain attendance time sheets, rosters, and create daily assignments for students. A background in teaching is preferred, but not required. Candidate should possess effective English communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to relate to and communicate well with individuals from all socio-economic levels and ethnic groups.

Salary Range $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
